Vertical Platform Wheelchair Lift

The Butler Mobility Vertical Platform Wheelchair Lift (VPL) is the perfect solution for applications that need wheelchair access, but where stairs are not present. Butler VPLs are often the most cost-effective solution for a public or corporate building looking to comply with The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

As well as ADA-compliance, our wheelchair lift products meet or exceed all National Safety Code (ANSI/ASME code) requirements. Our wheelchair lift products are V.A. approved and have UL® and CSA certified components.

Standard lifting capacity is 500 lbs.(227 kg.) They have an optional lifting capacity of 750 lbs (350 kg).

In the event of a power failure, the standard battery backup will bring the platform up and down as many as 12-15 times, depending on the age of the battery, the height and the load, so the user is never left stranded

Safety Features

The Vertical Platform Wheelchair Lift can be equipped with an automatically folding end ramp and guard that locks firmly in place during operation.  In a power failure, a dedicated lever transports the wheelchair lift smoothly and safely to the lower level at safe, comfortable speed.

  • Battery backup is standard.
  • Each wheelchair lift has an emergency stop button standard.
  • Optional key-operated controls provide additional safety and allow for parental control.
  • Slack/broken chain safety
  • Redundant platform safeties
  • Platform safety apron
  • Overspeed governer
  • Upper and lower limit switches
  • Overtravel switch
  • Safety clutch

Comfort and convenience

All moving parts of the VPL mechanism are carefully concealed to offer a seamless, more attractive appearance as well as optimum safety. Outdoor installations include an enclosure to provide safety and protection from the elements.

Controls

Each wheelchair lift has three directional switches, all within easy reach of the user. One on the platform, another at the upper landing and another at the bottom landing.  Wall mounted controls are available at a small additional cost.  All switches are “momentary” (constant pressure) to meet safety code requirements.

Key-operated controls are available.

As multiple-level safety features, the unit will only operate with the control key in the right position and a kill switch shuts it down in any emergency.

Color options

Butler Wheelchair Lifts are offered in two standard colors – tan and brown. Custom colors are available, often at no additional cost.

Installation and service

Butler wheelchair lift models are designed for easy and cost-effective installation that is seamless and visually appealing. The power unit can be located almost anywhere at the bottom, including through an adjoining wall, front or back, left or right. Our lifts use standard residential or commercial 110-volt power.

We back our wheelchair lift products with a five-year limited warranty, as well as nationwide customer service and maintenance either direct with Butler Mobility or through one of our authorized dealer/installers.
