Butler’s Dumbwaiter Jr.
The Butler Mobility Dumbwaiter Jr. offers a smaller but equally convenient alternative to our larger model for installation in homes or commercial applications with limited space. It is designed to fit into the base of a kitchen cabinet. However, the car station can also be located at a higher level if more convenient.
The Dumbwaiter Jr. has a capacity measuring 23" wide by 26" high and 21" deep. It can carry loads of food, laundry, or any household or other item weighing up to 200 lbs at 25 feet per minute. This delivers the ultimate convenience in a premium home or townhome, with minimal obtrusion and at a very cost effective price.
Construction
Shaftway framing layouts and measurements are supplied showing the position of 2"x4" guide rails, main joists and plan views of floor cutouts. Drawings also feature dimensions for standard car station doors and frames. The shaftway exterior can be built to individual specifications.
Butler Dumbwaiter cars are lined with high-pressure laminate to resist scratches, burns and stains, as well as making cleaning simple. And for a small premium cost, any pattern of decorative laminate can be specified to match or complement any décor. Quotes for custom design elements are welcome.
Operation and safety
Pressing the call button at any station automatically brings the car to that location. When the car reaches the station, a limit switch and door interlock are mechanically activated, stopping the car and releasing the door lock.
No station door can be opened unless the car is stationary at that level. Also, the car will not operate unless all station doors are closed. These safety features are supplemented by a slack cable safety switch, which automatically cuts the power if progress of the car is obstructed. And if the cable should break, a powerful breaking system engages, gripping the guide rails to prevent the car from falling.
Easy installation and affordability
Butler Dumbwaiters are furnished as self-contained units, including all electrical controls and interlocks, which are pre-wired for the easiest possible installation. After construction of the shaftway architecture, connection of the electrical supply by a few wires at designated areas is all that is required. Diagrams are provided to assist in connections being made correctly. Butler Dumbwaiters use Standard Underwriters Approved controls.
The design and installation methods of Butler Dumbwaiters make them very cost-effective to install in homes and businesses. The rewards are substantial in terms of convenience, tangible property value-added enhancement, and profit potential on resale.
